Bodywork/Energy Definitions:
- Orthobionomy®
- Orthobionomy® is a body-work technique, which works with the body, exaggerating the body's preferred postures, and allowing the body's self-healing process to create greater balance and alignment. It is a very gentle, yet very effective technique. It has helped people with arthritis, whiplash, sports injuries, and muscle pain. It works with the body's proprioceptive nervous system to release acute and chronic pain.
- Reiki
- Reiki is an ancient form of hands on healing. The word Reiki is Japanese, and means "universal life force energy". Reiki energy flows through the practitioner, then through the practitioner's hands, which are placed over specific parts of the body to direct energy to the client's body. Reiki brings about deep relaxation, and can enhance mental, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.
- Reflexology
- Reflexology uses specific touch techniques on reflex maps resembling the human body that are believed to exist on the feet, hands, and outer ears. The simplified version of western theory is that there are many nerve endings in these areas, and stress causes irritating chemicals to build up, which slows the flow of energy, so the body doesn't get the nerve impulses it needs to function properly. Reflexology reduces the blockage and the flow returns.
- Swedish Massage
- Swedish massage involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress, muscle tension and improved range of motion.
- Oncology Massage
- With physician approval, gentle, nurturing, massage and energy techniques are used on patients who are undergoing, or have undergone cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation. These techniques help to reduce pain, alleviate nausea, soothe anxiety and aid insomnia.
Many of the above techniques can be combined during bodywork sessions to provide the most effective treatment, depending upon client needs and desires. Combination Bodywork/Hypnosis Therapy sessions are also available to aid in releasing chronic pain. These services are designed to complement (work with), NOT replace, appropriate medical care.
